David L. Hill, MD, FAAP is a pediatrician, writer and father of 3 and believes humor is essential to surviving parenthood. Dr. Hill's medical roles include vice president of Cape Fear Pediatrics, adjunct assistant professor of pediatrics at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, Executive Committee member of the North Carolina Pediatric Society, and program director of the AAP Council on Communications and Media.

A Great Book Full Of Practical Tips!

This was a practical, no-nonsense kind of book for any current father or a soon to be dad. I love the fact that the book covers so many areas that a father typically will have to cover. The author does this with a style that is engaging, and one that helps the reader to easily understand what he can do to change and better the situation. One of the things I liked best were the sections entitled "what You Can Do" as these were very practical pieces of advice and things to think about in relation to the topic being discussed. Even more, the layout of the book is conducive to learning and I know that for me at least, I wish that this book would have been out when I was a first time dad, and I plan to pass this book along to other dads as I believe that they will be able to learn from this too.

Great for first-time dad

I agree with a lot of the other comments; if you are a first-time dad like I am, this book is a great resource. I read it before the baby arrived and it helped me to feel confident about my parenting once he was actually here. It's well organized and I see it getting pulled off the shelf and used as a reference a lot. The author clearly knows his stuff and I'm probably more inclined to start with the answers in this book than trust the billion hits on a search engine.

It is actually a pretty good book

It is actually a pretty good book. But the problem is that I already read about parenting so much on the internet (just baby center and mayo clinic type stuff) that I found very few new things.
If you are absolutely new to parenting and if this is the first time you are reading about parenting, pick up this book. Think of it as compilation of good stuff from all over the internet. But also remember that all that stuff is only a Google search away.
