THE BEST!

Well, this book was probably one of the best I've ever seen. Has loads of popular songs for both finger-pickers and pick-users. You need to be a little above the average with your guitar to play most of the songs in here, I admit, some of them like Hotel California are quite difficult. But the shipping was fast and I enjoyed this book to the max. 5 out of 5 stars, definitely.

Useful and very practical neti pot guide

There are a few eBooks out there right now for people interesting in finding out exactly how to maximize the effectiveness of their neti pot usage, and overall nasal irrigation information. This one, however, is the only one you need. This guide is very short - which is good, because there is no fluff. The only information in this book is exactly the information that you want and need if you are looking for a one stop neti pot manual. There are pictures throughout the book which come in very handy and punctuates specific talking points with a visual to go along with it, which is livens up the guide and gives it more character. This guide covers everything you need to know about nasal irrigation - what to do, what not to do, and how to do it.

Without giving out all of the specifics (if I did that, you wouldn't need to get the book!), this book is broken up into three main chapters, with an introduction and a conclusion, as well as a personal thank you from the author. The introduction reads as a literal introduction to the world of nasal irrigation. If you opened this guide having absolutely no idea on what a neti pot was, or what the heck nasal irrigation is, after reading the short introduction you would have a foundation of the general knowledge involved in the topic at hand. Having worked in the cabinet manufacturing business for over 30 years, I've had my share of sinus infections. I've used store bought brand nasal rinses and they are expensive. I love it that this book, "Nasal Irrigation Works," gives the formula for mixing your own rinse solution. I was also captured by the section of the book that explains how using the Neti pot can help prevent having bad breath, it makes total sense, something I've never thought about nasal rinsing for. This book is an excellent read and filled with valuable information about how rinsing the sinus area can contribute to living a healthier life.

About the Author

Richard Lee Ozenbaugh is a consultant of EMI filter design and magnetics engineering for such companies as Hughes Aircraft Corporation, Parker Hannifin Aerospace, Franklin Electric, McDonnell Douglas, and Cirrus Logic. Involved in the electrical and electronics industries since the early 1950s, he has worked as a radar specialist for the U.S. Navy as well as an engineer for Hopkins Engineering and RFI Corporation.

Timothy M. Pullen is a principal electrical engineer at Rockwell Collins. He has over 25 years of experience in the research, design, and development of electronic systems for commercial and military applications, including power electronics, motor control, and full authority digital engine control technology. His areas of expertise include model-based design and control, analog circuit design, and filter design.

Save your money

This book is an utter train wreck. The writing is disorganized, sloppy, imprecise, rambling, ambiguous and incoherent. It was painful to wade through. If this book had an editor, he or she should be fired. Though the author may be an expert on the subject, he has failed to communicate his knowledge to the reader.

I cannot recommend this book. Though I was able to learn a few useful things from it, the high price and the time spent sifting for a few grains of knowledge amongst the chaos more than canceled any benefit. I confess that I am a bit angry with the author for the mess that he excreted and that I subjected myself to.

Try "Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering" by Henry W. Ott. This book covers a much broader range of topics than "EMI Filter Design," yet the twelve pages devoted to power line filters convey more understanding and useful information than Ozenbaugh's entire book. The remainder of "Electromagnetic Compatibility Engineering" is a gold mine of material that will likely be useful to the sort of engineer that is concerned with EMI filters. Ott's book is well-organized, clear and concise, in complete contrast to "EMI Filter Design."

Lest you think my criticism of "EMI Filter Design" is overly harsh, I recommend that you critically read the first few pages that are offered on Amazon's product page where it says "Click to Look Inside" on the book's photo.

Here are excerpts from other parts of the book to help you judge for yourself:

"1.6. THE INDUCTIVE INPUT FOR THE 220A TEST METHOD
This is similar to the capacitor of the pi filter in the CIP method but not as severe. With the 50 ohms impedance in the 220A test system, what is the inductor impedance going to add? At least the 50 ohms is there and the inductive reactance adds to it at 90 degrees. We are speaking here of either an L or a T filter. They are not responsive until the impedance of the inductor reaches 50 ohms. Regardless, this takes effect orders of magnitude ahead as compared with the capacitance to ground in the CIP method. Both L and T perform very well in the CIP method but are somewhat limited in the 220A method. Calculate the frequency at which the inductor is 50 ohms. This will be the starting point where the inductance will start to function. This explains why most filters are the pi type required to pass the 220A specification.
Summarizing, watch the inductors of the L or T filters in the 220A test method. See the frequency at which they reach 50 ohms."

"6.7. THE RC SHUNT
Another technique is preferred to the Cauer but is better when used in high-impedance, low-current circuits. This filter, called the RC shunt, uses fewer components and is automatically balanced across the line to start with, if required (Fig. 6.18). This is formed with a capacitor and a series resistor. Normally, the filter has a resonant rise lower in frequency than the trouble frequency. This is especially true if the filter is a multiple filter such as a double or triple L, pi, or T. Usually, the number of resonant rises is one less than the multiple number, meaning that the single L, pi, or T would not have any resonant rise but the quad would have one less, equaling three. This holds true only if the circuit Q is low enough. The higher Q has a resonant rise for each network. Find the frequency of the lowest resonant rise and pick the capacitor value at this frequency that equals the filter design impedance. This will attenuate each resonant rise above the first and also the trouble frequency. If the resonant rise frequencies are of no concern--well above the fifth harmonic of the power line frequency and well below 10 kHz--choose the capacitor to equal the design impedance at the trouble frequency."

And here's a gem, from a listing of desirable features of dissipative filters in section 6.5:

"A filter would have a filter very similar to an inexpensive LISN would be included within the filter, and two if the unit is the type described and pictured in Fig. 6.16."

Got that? The whole book is a mess. It deserves a grade of F-minus with a frowny face. Make the author sit in the corner until recess.

Rented this first, then purchased it

I rented this book for a month to see if it would help with solving some filtering issues I was having related to a MIL-STD-461 design. I had to read it at least 3 times to understand what it was talking about, but in the end I was MUCH more confident in my ability to design filters. When it was all over I decided to buy the book to add to my library (my memory isn't what it used to be).

Excellent source of EMI Filter Design information

Let me start by saying I know Richard Lee Ozenbaugh "Oz". He was a consultant on a project I worked on back in 2003-2004. His knowledge of filter design and of real-world components proved to be invaluable in getting my staff up to speed and delivering a product that worked in a short amount of time. This book, now in its third edition contains a wealth of experience and knowledge Oz gained over his career. While there isn't anything hard about designing EMI filters, there are many places where the real world causes problems that you didn't plan on when you designed the schematic. Oz covers these issues: parasitics, capacitor lead lengths, magnetic coupling, core saturation, component arrangement/placement, etc. He also provides some great chapters on choosing component values toward the end of the book that will get you up and going in whatever computer simulation you prefer in no time. Do I like the book? Yes. It's the kind of book that you keep handy for when you need to tackle a tough filter problem and you don't have time to make dumb mistakes in design that cost you valuable project time.

Place the answer images with description on the answer page and not way at the back of the book!

Pros:
-Many questions hone in on important concepts.
-Images are large enough and clear enough. Coned in images help as well.

Cons:
Case review series still hasn't gotten it right. Here are the problems
-Answer page still doesn't have images with arrows to the findings. You have to flip to the end of the book to see them. However, the answer page is usually about half empty. So, why not place the answer images in the answer page?
-Image findings are very poorly written. About half the time there is no description of findings. Rather they simply state as "Note the fractures at the arrows". When you are learning, more detailed descriptions like "Fractures are seen at frontozygomatic suture, inferior orbital wall and at the zygomatic arch". Not very good....
-Nit picky questions like: what is the normal serum prolactin level?

I would be luke warm about recommending this book.

Much better cases and discussion than in the prior editions. However, some difficult cases are placed in the "Fair Game" section while the less difficult once are found in the "Challenge".

A great book that can change the way you view faith.

It was a chance thing that I even read this book. I was at my inlaws and having a discussion about religous matters when my mother in law suggested this book. She had an old copy that had been rebound that I read that afternoon. I loved it so much and felt that there was such a vast store of faith promoting information to learn from it, that I bought it that very day. I plan on reading this book regularly. I can promise it will help you strengthen your efforts to draw closer to hevenly father and give you ways to increase your faith and your ability to get answers through prayer. Its a quick read (less than 100 pages) and has a great discussion aspect to it. I highly recommend this book.

Very Powerful

This book goes beyond generalities in exercising faith to obtain righteous desires. I teaches the importance of intense desire, focusing your thoughts and petitioning the Lord for you specific desires and then all you can on your part. If the principles in this book were following it would change one's life.

Changed my life when I was a kid

My first experience with this book was back in the early 80's. It was my dad's copy. I remember glancing through it, not understanding much, but my dad was eager to teach me the principles in the book. At that age all I could understand is that if you want to achieve a goal and it requires 100 units of talent, but you only have 70 units of natural talent, the Lord can make up the other 30 units if you have sufficient faith. I didn't question my dad or the book, I just took it at face value as a child does.

And it turned my life around.

My grades went from C's and D's to practically all A's. I stopped hanging around the "bad" kids in school and made better friends. All it took was Faith.

Now, 40 years later, I finally read the book that changed my life. I can honestly say that my life, up to now, would have been a LOT different if I was never taught the basic principles of faith from this book.

The quality of our thoughts really do shape our world. This isn't some New Age fluff, but the foundation of real Faith. Faith in Jesus Christ. We worship what we focus on and putting Christ as the center of our world fills us with the Holy Spirit. Once filled with the Holy Spirit our intellect is quickened, our abilities in any righteous task are magnified beyond our abilities. I can attest to this. Everything I am is because of my faith in Christ.

My hope is you will read this book and apply the principles of Faith to help you improve and grow. God bless!

Essential reading!

This is a must-read book for anyone learning to become a coach. It is clearly written, readable, comprehensive and informative. Lots of great tips, very little jargon or waffle. I have read it through twice. Great stuff!

theoretical and practical

This book provides a broad theoretical basis for coaching with valuable practical tips to note, pitfalls to avoid and case studies to examine. Jenny Rogers' writing style is candid and fluid, but the content really engages. I am reading this as part of a coaching certification program, and veteran and new coaches alike are voicing tremendous value in this book, both in our coaching but also in our own self-awareness.

I am still a novice on this topic. Within that context, I found the book most helpful. I found several points worth taking a notes. Case studies spread across chapters in the book also help you to understand the practicalities of the tips.
