Fun read

Yes, it's an old fashioned book, but I loved it! Written in the 1930s I believe, at a far more innocent time (pre war) we learn all about Mr Finchley and how this trip changes him forever. I love Mr Finchley! He's honorable, honest and ever such a British gentleman. The best thing, for me, was knowing that the whole thing was going to turn out just fine, despite some of the despicable characters he met! No blood and gore, no over the top nasty stuff! Just fun adventures with some very interesting people of old. A lovely Sunday afternoon read.

Please publish more Victor Canning books someone. He's a forgotten gem of a writer. Mr. Finchley Discovers His England is about travel plans gone awry. Mr. Finchley is a gentle soul. A clerk in a solicitor's office whose holiday to Margate goes seriously wrong with marvellous consequences.
